Story – The story is about a girl called Misaki who joins a contest known as Angelic Layer. Angelic Layer consists of a contest where the opponents use mini-robots that are mind controlled. The opponents wear a special headset in order to talk to and control their mini-robots known as Angels. Misaki combats many Angels in the anime and meets different people accordingly. It can be compared to a dubbed anime that used to show up on Saudi TV called Sanchiro only the majority of Angelic Layer contestants are girls.

Art/Animation - The art is the same style as any Clamp comic. And the target audience is most probably a female audience as Japan has a tradition where they do classify some of their anime according to gender. Angelic Layer is clearly a shoujo/girl anime, art and animation wise. The main character and her Angel have a very appealing style especially for female audiences.

Sound/Music - The music is definitely pretty. Especially the credits, with carefully constructed orchestra for dramatic parts or dramatic episodes.

Characters - Most of the characters in the story are girls whom Misaki meets during Angelic Layer tournaments. There are a few male characters in the story, including a scientist who acts a little eccentric known as Ichiro Mihara
and a male Angel user known as Ohjiro. One of the more unique characters would be Hatoko Kobayashi who is a very talented but 5 year old Angel user. The significance of this character being is anyone can join Angelic Layer regardless of age, if they are talented enough.

Enjoyment - It was definitely enjoyable to watch. The best thing being the ending. Very climatic, and very educational to younger and older viewers alike.
It teaches some good values, despite some quirks in some of the characters' personalities. The ending is definitely a must see.

Islamic Factor – There are a few off things that aren't extreme like hints at perverse intentions from one or two of the characters. So people who are -extremely- sensitive should look out for that. Notice that any scenes related to that are suggestive but there are no obvious bad scenes. Other than there are no problems with it. I would recommend this to 13+. The suggestiveness only happens in a countable number of episodes and is ignorable especially for older audiences.

Conclusion– Would definitely recommend this to a friend, preferably a female friend with a preference to shoujo/girl anime. The Angels are really cute and are almost doll-like in appearance. So doll enthusiasts, female audiences, and robot enthusiasts will most probably like this.

P.S. The review was based on the subbed version of Angelic Layer.
